Quantification of surface damage of tool steels after EDM   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
The surface transformation and damage in AISI O1, A2, D2 and D6 tool steels after EDM were investigated. The results show that the recast layer is composed of two distinct layers: a topmost layer solidifying inwards from the specimen surface and an intermediate layer solidifying outwards from the base of the molten metal. The depth of surface cracks is found to correlate well with the thickness of the white layer, the latter being a layer of rapidly solidified material which, depending on the tool steel material, may consist either primarily of the topmost recast layer, or both the topmost and a large part of the intermediate recast layer. The density of surface cracks, however, correlates better with the thickness of the overall recast layer.

Attempts were made to quantify the depth of white (or damaged) layer with respect to the process parameters and surface roughness after EDM. It is found that with a fixed dielectric and flushing condition, the damaged layer correlates well with the pulse energy irrespective of thetool steel material. On the other hand, even though the thickness of the white layer increases with the surface roughness, the result shows considerably more scatter. Based on the present findings, ways of estimating the depth of the damaged layer produced by EDM are proposed.  相似文献

Purpose: To exploit the potential of proteomics to identify and study additional yet‐unidentified important proteins present in human endometrium. Experimental design: The proteome of human endometrium would be established using 2‐DE and MALDI and the data analyzed to identify differential protein expression in the proliferative and secretory phase of the menstrual cycle using PDQuest software and MALDI. Results: In the present work, 2‐DE of human endometrium protein led to the resolution of over 200 spots. Subsequent MALDI analysis of 215 spots allowed the identification of 194 proteins. A total of 57 out of the 215 spots were found to be differentially expressed, out of which 49 could be identified using MALDI. These differentially expressed proteins included structural proteins, molecular chaperones, signaling proteins, metabolic proteins, proteins related to immunity, RNA biogenesis, protein biosynthesis and others. The differential expressions of seven representative proteins in secretory and proliferative phase endometrium tissue were confirmed by immunoblot analysis. Conclusion and clinical relevance: This study establishes the 2‐D proteome of human endometrium represented by 194 identified protein spots. The present data provides an important clue towards determining the function of these proteins with respect to endometrium related diseases.  相似文献

Dendritic Pd with corrugated surfaces, obtained by a novel AC technique, exhibits an exceptionally high catalytic activity for the oxidation of formic acid because of the presence of a high density of surface steps. The formation of twinned dendrites leads to a predominance of exposed 111 facets with a high density of surface steps as evident from high resolution electron microscopy investigations. These surface sites provide active sites for the adsorption of the formic acid molecules, thereby enhancing the reaction rate. Control experiments by varying the time of deposition reveal the formation of partially grown dendrites at shorter times indicating that the dendrites were formed by growth rather than particle attachment. Our deposition method opens up interesting possibilities to produce anisotropic nanostructures with corrugated surfaces by exploiting the perturbations involved in the growth process.  相似文献

Thin films of Sn were deposited on Pt/Si substrates by sputtering technique and subjected to electrochemical lithiation studies. Electrochemical lithiation of Sn resulted in the formation of Sn–Li alloys of different compositions. Charging of Sn-coated Pt/Si electrodes was terminated at different potentials and the electrodes were examined for physicochemical properties. The scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy images suggested that the Sn films expanded on lithiation. Roughness of the film increased with an increase in the quantity of Li present in Sn–Li alloy. Electrochemical impedance data suggested that the kinetics of charging became sluggish with an increase in the quantity of Li in Sn–Li alloy.  相似文献

A finite element analysis of laminated shells of revolution reinforced with laminated stifieners is described here-in. A doubly curved quadrilateral laminated anisotropic shell of revolution finite element of 48 d.o.f. is used in conjunction with two stiffener elements of 16 d.o.f. namely: (i) A laminated anisotropic parallel circle stiffener element (PCSE); (ii) A laminated anisotropic meridional stiffener element (MSE).These stifiener elements are formulated under line member assumptions as degenerate cases of the quadrilateral shell element to achieve compatibility all along the shell-stifiener junction lines. The solutions to the problem of a stiffened cantilever cylindrical shell are used to check the correctness of the present program while it's capability is shown through the prediction of the behavior of an eccentrically stiffened laminated hyperboloidal shell.  相似文献

The kinetics of the vapor phase oxidation of p-xylene over ferric molybdate catalyst were studied in an isothermal, differential, tubular flow reactor in the temperature range of 360 to 420° C. The major product obtained was p-tolualdehyde with small amounts of maleic anhydride and p-toluic acid. No terephthalic acid or CO2 were observed. The reaction rate data collected fit the redox model given by Equation 1. The values of activation energies Ex, Eo and frequency factors Ax, Ao obtained are 72, 63 kJ/mol and 0.64, 2.89 m3/kg catalyst s respectively. The reaction mechanism was established by studying the oxidation of p-tolualdehyde, toluic and terephthalic acids. It is concluded that the reaction follows a parallel-consecutive scheme.  相似文献
